What does the foundation do?
Since 1980 Reiner and LailaGreiss have supported young people in Egypt in their endeavour to obtain qualified education. Responsible allocation of donations has paved the way for numerous youngsters into a gainfully employed future. The Greiss Foundation (founded in 2011) cares exclusively for vocational training and university education of youngsters and young adults in Egypt, as well as other countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The founders are of the firm conviction that every human being has a God-given gift. Many, however, lack the means to develop those gifts.
Sometimes a small donation, sometimes more financial support is needed and sometimes even a piece of good advice. Many youngsters in Egypt do not manage to find suitable apprenticeship without the help of a third party. The foundation consults these young people in choosing a vocation to start with and then grants financial help as a next step to cover tuition fees, examination fees and educational materials.
They are also continuously encouraged by voluntary personnel on site who report regularly to the management of the foundation on the training progress of the supported students.
Furthermore, the foundation management is in regular contact with educators, professors and the relevant authorities. At the same time the management encourages the youngsters to get involved into the project after their apprenticeship or their studies. Thus they can not only express their appreciation but also report from their own experience on how valuable the support has been for them.
Future Perspectives
It is the object of the foundation to individually sponsor needy youngsters and young adults. Partnerships are planned with educational institutions, as well as with trade and industrial enterprises, in order to guarantee non-interrupted education of the scholarship holders. The foundation is being supported on site by voluntary helpers. Further information is freely available from the founders of the foundation. They are committed to the project – like all other persons involved – on a voluntary basis. It is therefore guaranteed that any financial support will arrive in Egypt in the place where it is needed and that it will be allocated to exactly the purpose for which you have determined it – as a sub-foundation or as a direct donation, so that a youngster can grow with their education, can be independent as an adult and can care for themselves and their family.
